Garden Office Pod in Hertfordshire

This garden office pod in Hitchin Hertfordshire is the perfect place to work, situated in a beautiful garden with a covered outside area to enjoy the surrounding garden. Our client wanted to be able to open up the office completely to the the garden using wide bifold doors and step out seamlessly onto a large decking area. For this we specified aluminium bifold doors with a flush floor channel so the internal floor level is exactly the same as the external decking, with no threshold to step over. This is the perfect way to bring the outside into your garden room. Our aluminium doors all come with a choice of colours and high performing low-e solar glazing.

Based on our St Tropez model garden room we adapted the size to suit our clients requirements, changed the porch overhang from 40cm to 50cm and we designed the Brise Soleil canopy and side wall over the decking area. With the large expanse of glazing in the doors and a south facing outlook, we were concerned the room could potentially overheat in the extremes of summer which is why we designed the Brise Soleil. This allows light to enter the garden room but keeps out the stronger summer sun. Needless to say our client loved the design and really appreciated the thought that went into the garden rooms future use and comfort.

The garden office is using 125mm SIPs panels in the walls and SIPs to the floor and roof ensuring a highly insulated efficient and airtight garden room. All of our garden rooms are incredibly high performing and offer levels of comfort for greater than most. After discussing finishes with out client and looking at sample projects, they decided on using a vertical Shou Sugi Ban cladding and  anthracite grey aluminium doors. The Brise Soleil is also designed to use matching Shou Sugi Ban timber to create a unique and beautiful garden office.

Internally our client opted for birch ply walls rather than painted plaster. This is a more sustainable option and provides a rich natural feel to the garden room. A light oak wood floor was chosen with underfloor heating and stainless steel sockets and switches. At Studio Garden Rooms we offer a comprehensive list of options and can accommodate any requirements our clients have.
