When our client based in Cambridge contacted us to discuss a project for a contemporary garden yoga studio, we knew she had come to the right place for a garden room company to fulfil her dreams. With our first approach being a telephone conversation followed up by a consultation on site so we can meet our clients and view the garden, we were armed with a brief to ensure we hit the mark when it came to the design. Two of the things that stood out from our initial meeting with our client was a love of symmetry and light. We knew that our design would create the perfect yoga retreat that would offer a peaceful and calming place to be.
As with the majority of our insulated garden rooms we created a bespoke design forming a perfect cube measuring 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5m. With a fully glazed front wall and both sides having floor to ceiling windows, this contemporary garden room offers the perfect escape. The garden pod was designed to be sited centrally in the garden further enforcing the feeling of perfect symmetry. A composite contrasting decking was added to both the sides and front of the yoga studio which allows the front doors to be opened and yoga to be practiced outside on the deck. The aluminium sliding doors sit flush to the floor with no visible threshold allowing seamless movement from inside to out, further enhancing the outside in feel.
The main structure is built using SIPs (structurally insulated panels) for the floor walls and roof. This offers levels of insulation and airtightness far exceeding most homes and other garden rooms. Comfort is key in our garden rooms and the level of insulation in our pods and studios is so high you will need very little heating even in the winter. We specified underfloor heating for this project and an engineered wood floor of our clients choosing. Using Western Red Cedar vertical cladding externally, this creates a warm look with a beautiful contrast against the anthracite aluminium doors and windows.
